1936 Penny With Double Die Stamp on Obverse

No Mint Mark
Mintage: No Data

The real value of this coin is almost exclusively with the double die version. MS quality coins can demand $1,425 more than good condition coins.

Value:

  • F-12 are worth about $75
  • VF-20 are worth about $125
  • EF-40 are worth about $200
  • AU-50 are worth about $350
  • MS-60 are worth about $500
  • PF-63 are worth about $1,500

In 1936, another series of pennies were created with an error. The double die strike can be found on the obverse side of the penny without a mintmark. If you find this error in a penny of F-12 or better condition, you’ll make at least $75 and a MS-63 certified coin will bring you approximately $1,500. The only other penny of this year worth mentioning is the “Brilliant Proof” PF-63 1936 penny.
