By 1921, the depression that followed World War 1, was in full swing. The lack of economic growth limited the need for coinage and led to a drastic drop in production that year. The 1921 Mercury Dime only had 2,310,000 minted. That includes both the Philadelphia mint’s production and the Denver Mint’ production. If you plan to buy a series of all Mercury Dimes, this will be the hardest year to find. Especially if you want a MS-60 or better coin. Expect to pay upwards of $2,500. Even a G-4 (good quality) dime will cost you $45 or so.
